Hello from Suzannah Smith Tutoring!

I’m Suzannah, or Mrs Smith as I have always been known in schools, and I love teaching. I qualified with a PGCE in Primary Education in 2013 from the University of Cambridge, and have now taught in three continents. I am based in East Northamptonshire, but online teaching now allows me to work with pupils throughout the country and even further afield.

I spent the first three years of my career teaching Primary education in England, then spent the next three years teaching and tutoring in New Zealand, and tutoring in several countries in Asia. This experience has allowed me to develop my teaching skills so as to better support each student and has given me a broader range of teaching techniques to work from. I have been tutoring full time since 2019.

Whilst my PGCE specialised in Primary Education, I have taught students across all age ranges – from Early Years right through to University Students. I’ve also worked in outdoor education and nurseries, and have a good understanding and experience with SEN teaching.

Why Tutoring?

Whilst I love teaching, I have found that I prefer a more individual approach to learning.

Almost every pupil can benefit from individual tuition, whether it is because they are struggling to reach expectations, stuck on one specific concept, or because they are working above expectations and need pushing even further. This is where tutoring comes in.

Working on a more individual basis allows me to tailor my sessions to the needs of each individual and adapt my teaching throughout to ensure the best progress for the pupil. There is nothing better than seeing a child, or adult, grasp and fully understand a concept and be able to apply that knowledge independently, and I find this occurs far quicker (and with deeper understanding) when tutoring.
